Sheila suffered foundering in Dublin Bay during a major storm.

The severe dammage substained was marked by an orbituary in the Yachting Monthly (n°104 – December 191) and she was written off by her insurance company.

Still her then owner Pat Walsh undertook to re-build her.

The work was performed in Ringsend (Pemborke township), in the yard of Tom Foley, shipwright at 5 Thorncastle Street (near intersection with Dodder place, where Whelan House was later erected.)

The boat in the foreground was a Liverpool Shrimper owned by Campbell’s Bakery. In the center is the “Nirvana” owned by Billy Mooney. At her right and in the back is Sheila. The “Barbara” owned by Beckett’s is also identifiable.
